Walkthrough
- Travel to the marked location in the heart of the Velen swamps to find the bleeding tree.
- Speak to the ancient spirit trapped beneath the roots of the hillock.
- Investigate the nearby cave and gather the necessary ritual items: a black horse, raven feathers, and the spirit’s bones.
- Make the critical choice: perform the ritual to free the spirit into the horse, or attack and destroy the roots.
- Return to the Ealdorman of Downwarren to report your success and collect the Crones’ payment.
Quest Consequences & Choices
Freeing the spirit saves the innocent orphans of Crookback Bog but leads to the destruction of Downwarren and the death of Anna Strenger and the Bloody Baron. Destroying the spirit leads to the death of the orphans, but Anna and the Baron will survive the immediate events at the bog.
