To Bait a Forktail… is a main quest at Kaer Morhen and part of Ugly Baby. Yennefer needs ingredients from a forktail, a dangerous draconid, and she decides that two witchers will get the job done faster than one. So Geralt is told, not asked, to help Eskel with the hunt.
First Geralt has to find Eskel, and the two old friends get a rare chance to catch up after years apart. They can even race each other on horseback through the valley. The hunt itself follows the classic witcher recipe: lure the forktail in with bait, wound it, chase it as it flees and finish it off in its lair. It is a satisfying monster fight, but the real treat is the easy friendship between Geralt and Eskel, the calmest and kindest of the Wolf School witchers.
With the ingredients in hand, Geralt returns to Yennefer, one step closer to lifting Uma’s curse.
