Va Fail, Elaine is the final part of Ugly Baby and one of the big reveals of The Witcher 3. Vesemir’s gentle methods have not worked, so Yennefer goes ahead with her plan: Uma will go through the Trial of the Grasses, the brutal alchemical process once used to turn boys into witchers.
It is a hard quest to watch. Geralt has to help administer the painful treatments, holding back his disgust and his own memories of the trials he survived as a child. Yennefer runs the ritual with iron discipline, and the witchers do their part. After long hours of work, the curse finally breaks.
Uma was never just a cursed creature. He is Avallac’h, the masked elven sage who travelled with Ciri and hid her from the Wild Hunt. Avallac’h reveals that Ciri is safe, sleeping on the magical Isle of Mists, and he gives Geralt the means to find her. After so many false trails, Geralt finally knows exactly where Ciri is.
