Contract: Shrieker is a witcher contract near Crow’s Perch in Velen. The people of the area already live in fear of the Bloody Baron’s moods and his men, and on top of that they have a monster to deal with, one they have given the charming name of “the shrieker”. The contract can start from the notice board or when Geralt stumbles on the monster’s tracks during one of his wanders.
The shrieker turns out to be a cockatrice, a draconid known for its piercing cry, which has made its nest in the burned ruins outside Crow’s Perch. Cockatrices are fast, attack from the air and have a nasty screech that stuns their prey.
Draconid oil, Grapeshot and the Aard sign are the usual answers. Once the beast is dead, Geralt can take the coin or make a different deal, and the reward includes a cockatrice trophy and a dwarven axe.
