Overview
The Dwarven Document Dilemma is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set in the Farcorners district outside Novigrad. It starts on the road south of the Southern Gate, near the bridge to the Seven Cats Inn.
A robbery, supposedly
Rostan Muggs stops Geralt in a panic. He says he was attacked on the other side of the river and the thief ran off with some important documents. At the far end of the bridge Geralt finds a bottle of moonshine and a trail leading straight to a man named Gerd, sitting outside the inn.
Gerd has a different story: Muggs lost the papers to him in a game of gwent. Muggs, when confronted, admits it. The documents belonged to his employer, he gambled them away while drunk, and when he tried to take them back, Gerd pulled a weapon.
Getting the documents
Gerd will not sell them. Geralt can take them in a fistfight, win them in a game of gwent (you can retry as often as you like), or use Axii. The papers turn out to be the deed to a property. The quest only ends once Geralt has the documents, so there is no way to walk away from it halfway. Hand them back to Muggs for a small reward.
