Overview
A Portrait of the Witcher as an Old Man is a Blood and Wine secondary quest that starts in the market south of the Gran’place in Beauclair. A painter among the easels comments on Geralt’s striking looks and asks him to be his model.
Waiting for the light
The painter only works when the light is right, so meet him near the Beauclair Palace signpost between 10 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. On the ride out he chatters about his cat, which he claims also paints. At the first spot, his paints have gone missing. Clues by a bush and along the path lead down the hill into a cave, where Geralt kills some nekkers and recovers the paints.
The sitting
At a new spot, Geralt picks a pose: on horseback, standing with a sword, or lying down. Hours pass. As the painter muses about adding a griffin, a real one swoops in. Kill it rather than flee: running away fails the quest, and the painter dies. The griffin’s body holds a Toussaint Ducal Guardsman’s steel sword. Afterward, Geralt decides whether the griffin goes into the picture, receives 300 crowns, and is told to come back in a day.
The finished work
A day later, a crowd has gathered around the easel in the market, and the painter has taken some artistic liberties. Geralt can buy the portrait for 1,000 crowns or come back for it later. Buying it counts as a Proof of Generosity for There Can Be Only One.
