Reverend Nathaniel Pastodi is a priest of the Eternal Fire in Novigrad. He was once a torturer, and he is said to have enjoyed tormenting women. Hierarch Hemmelfart later appointed him supervisor of the city morgue, where he oversees cremations, holds funeral masses on Temple Isle and works with the Temple Guard.

Geralt and Joachim von Gratz first run into Pastodi at the morgue during Carnal Sins, where he berates the coroner Hubert Rejk for letting them in. Later, after the murder of Patricia Vegelbud, the trail leads to Crippled Kate’s, where Geralt catches the reverend torturing a woman with a hot poker.

What happens next depends on how carefully Geralt reads the clues. He can take Pastodi for the killer and end his life there. Or he can realize from what Pastodi tells him that the real murderer is Hubert Rejk, who has been steering him onto the priest’s trail, and then decide whether to kill Pastodi anyway for his cruelty, use Axii on him or let him go.
