Ciri’s Story: The King of the Wolves is the first playable Ciri section in The Witcher 3, told as a flashback while the Bloody Baron recounts how he met her. Fleeing the monsters of Crookback Bog, Ciri reaches a dried-up branch of the Pontar southeast of Lindenvale, where she runs into a scared little girl called Gretka.
Gretka talks about the Wolf King, a terrifying beast straight out of a scary ballad that prowls the very path they need to take. The truth turns out to be less poetic: the Wolf King is a werewolf. Ciri fights through its wolves and kills it, but gets wounded in the process. A villager she saved offers to take her and Gretka to Crow’s Perch, where the Baron will patch her up, and that is how Ciri ends up as his guest.
The quest is short, but it gives players a first taste of how Ciri fights, fast and aggressive with her blink attack, and it is a nice change of pace in the middle of Geralt’s investigation.
