Contract: The Merry Widow

Contract: The Merry Widow is a witcher contract in Lindenvale, Velen. The village gravedigger has posted a notice claiming the cemetery is full of monsters that seize children. Geralt can take the contract, or start it by finding an old cottage whose living arrangements make it very clear that whoever lives there is not human.

The investigation leads to a grave hag known as Mourntart, a necrophage who has been feeding in the village cemetery and made the old cottage her lair. Grave hags are cunning, use their long tongues as whips and like to vanish and reappear during a fight.

Necrophage oil, Quen and Golden Oriole against her poison make the fight much easier. Beating Mourntart earns Geralt the relic sword Addan Deith, and Lindenvale’s dead can rest in peace again.

Walkthrough

  1. Talk to the gravedigger in Lindenvale, or find the old cottage first.
  2. Investigate the cemetery and the cottage with your witcher senses.
  3. Uncover who the merry widow really is.
  4. Fight and kill the grave hag Mourntart.
  5. Collect the reward.

Quest Consequences & Choices

Killing Mourntart ends the attacks in the Lindenvale cemetery.
