The Great Escape is a main quest and part of Final Preparations. Rebuilding the Lodge means bringing back Margarita Laux-Antille, the former rectoress of Aretuza and an old friend of Yennefer’s. The witch hunters have her locked up in Deireadh, the best-guarded prison this side of the Yaruga, and Geralt and Yennefer have to get her out.
Luckily, Yennefer has a lead: the one man who has ever managed to escape Deireadh. He tries to run again when he sees them, but once they catch him, he explains how to get past the guards. The route in leads from Crippled Kate’s in Novigrad through the sewers, full of drowners, ghouls, rotfiends and a grave hag, and into the prison compound near Oxenfurt.
Inside, Geralt and Yennefer have to find Margarita and get her out past witch hunters, Redanian soldiers and the prison warden. It is a classic prison break, and seeing Geralt and Yennefer work side by side on a job like this is one of its pleasures.
