Aerondight

Aerondight is the silver sword of the Lady of the Lake. In Blood and Wine it is the reward for proving Geralt’s chivalric virtues, and it may be the best silver sword in the game. It is one of very few weapons that grows stronger the more you use it.

Because its damage keeps rising with Geralt’s level and with every fully charged kill, it can stay useful all the way into New Game +.

Quest reward

Complete the secondary quest There Can Be Only One. It can only be started once Geralt has finished quests covering all five knightly virtues. After beating the Hermit in a trial of combat at Lac Célavy, the Lady of the Lake rises from the water and hands Geralt the sword.

In the books & earlier games

Aerondight has followed Geralt through all three games. In the first Witcher game the Lady of the Lake knights him in Chapter IV and gives him the blade. In The Witcher 2 it can be imported from a save, but Geralt loses it in the prologue when he drives it into the dragon.

Special ability
Every hit adds a charge (fast attack 1, strong attack 2), and each charge raises the sword’s damage by 10%. Charges fade over time or when Geralt takes damage. At 10 charges the blade glows gold and every hit is a critical hit. Killing an enemy while fully charged spends the charges and permanently raises the sword’s damage. The sword starts without upgrade slots, but up to three can be added.
