Overview
Of Dairy and Darkness is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It centers on Aeramas’ Abandoned Manor east of Oxenfurt, and on a shop in the Gildorf district of Novigrad. You can start it from either place.
The lizard key
The manor’s portal will not open without a key. The Gildorf shop sells a lizard figurine for 40 crowns, which is the first of several figurine portal keys. On the manor’s upper floor you will find the mage’s notes and a lever, and a chest there holds the Enhanced Feline armor diagram.
A cheese maze
The portal leads to a secret laboratory, and the smell explains everything. Aeramas was a tyromancer, a mage who read the future in cheese, and the place is full of cheese statues. Below lies a maze of toxic cheese fumes that Aard and Igni cannot clear. Follow the cheese pieces under glass covers; the uncovered ones are poisonous.
Beyond the maze, floor tiles open another portal. Swim north through the water, climb up, and cross a broken bridge where a foglet waits. In the lab behind it are Aeramas’ notes and a bull figurine. The Eye of Nehaleni reveals extra loot in a rock wall.
The Emmentaler
The final room is sealed by a barrier. Hit the pyramid stones on both sides with Igni to drop it. Since patch 4.0 the left one is hidden, so you need the Eye of Nehaleni. The chest holds coin and a snake figurine, and the pedestal holds the prize: a sword called The Emmentaler.
