Mererid is the imperial chamberlain of Emhyr var Emreis, a stickler for court etiquette in a court that runs on it.
In The Witcher 3
In Imperial Audience, Mererid takes charge of Geralt at the Royal Palace in Vizima. With the help of Cledwyn the barber, he makes the road-worn witcher fit to stand before the emperor, and explains, patiently and at length, how one behaves in the imperial presence.
He appears again at the end of the story. If Ciri chooses the witcher’s path, Mererid leads Geralt to Emhyr once more in Something Ends, Something Begins, where Geralt tells the emperor that his daughter is dead.
