An Unpaid Debt

Overview

An Unpaid Debt is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set in the Skellige Isles. It only appears if Geralt accepted Simun Brambling’s help in Stranger in a Strange Land, and after The Cave of Dreams is finished.

Calling in the favor

Some days later Simun waits outside the New Port Inn at Kaer Trolde. He wants help settling a score. Refuse, and he leaves, warning that breaking an oath in Skellige tends to shorten a man’s life. Agree, and he asks Geralt to meet him at a hut by the lake northwest of Blandare.

The choice

Simun wants Geralt to kill a man named Volund. Volund says Simun tricked and betrayed his brother and got him killed, and that he has sworn revenge. Geralt can do as Simun asks and fight Volund and a warrior, or refuse, in which case Simun attacks all three of them. The survivor has a few parting words.

Walkthrough

  1. Accept Simun’s help in Stranger in a Strange Land and finish The Cave of Dreams.
  2. Find Simun outside the New Port Inn at Kaer Trolde and agree to help.
  3. Meet him at the hut by the lake northwest of Blandare.
  4. Kill Volund and his companion, or side with Volund against Simun.
