Ciri’s Story: Out of the Shadows is the final Ciri flashback of the Bloody Baron’s storyline in The Witcher 3, and it follows straight on from The Race. The basilisk that landed by the finish line grabs the Baron and carries him off to its nest in the abandoned tower, and Ciri goes after him without a second thought.

To save him, she has to act fast, and that means using her special abilities. In the blink of an eye she teleports next to the monster and cuts off its head. It works, but it comes with a price. Eredin can sense whenever Ciri uses her powers, and that one moment is enough to alert the Wild Hunt. To protect the Baron and his people from what would follow, Ciri leaves Crow’s Perch and heads for Novigrad, hoping to find Yennefer there. That is the lead Geralt carries forward when the Velen chapter of the search ends.
