Ciri’s Story: The Race is the second Ciri flashback in The Witcher 3, told by the Bloody Baron. After her fight with the Wolf King, Ciri stays at Crow’s Perch as the Baron’s guest, and by his own account he treats her like a daughter. His men love her for her hunting skills and her passion for horses.
One evening, around a bonfire after a successful hunt, Ciri proposes a bet: if she beats the Baron in a horse race, he gives her a horse of her choice. The Baron accepts, and the player takes Ciri through a race across the Velen countryside. It is meant as a harmless bit of fun, but as the riders approach the old tower that marks the finish line, a basilisk lands at its base, and the story is cut off at the worst possible moment. The Baron, being a good storyteller, refuses to continue until Geralt finds his wife.
