Overview
Contract: Bovine Blues is a Blood and Wine witcher contract in the Champs-Désolés. It starts from the notice boards in Flovive or at the Ardaiso Quarry, where Foreman Pafnuzio is failing to get his frightened workers back to their jobs.
The investigation
A cow carcass near the quarry has drawn ghouls and an alghoul. After clearing them, the carcass points to a draconid. A broken crane reveals a blood trail, which leads to some stills overrun by rotfiends. A half-eaten corpse there confirms the beast is a slyzard, a fire-breathing draconid. Further tracks show a second slyzard joined the wounded one, and the trail heads east to a hill with the nest at its top.
The slyzards
Apply draconid oil and climb the hill, most easily from the west. Geralt faces two slyzards at once, sharing one health bar that starts partly drained because of the smaller one’s wound. Take the trophy and the sword Dahlia from the slyzard matriarch. The nest can be burned with Igni for extra experience, and an Igni place of power lies beneath it. Slaying the slyzards counts as a Proof of Valor for There Can Be Only One.
Aftermath
Pafnuzio pays, but the workers still refuse to go back, since other quarrymen have been missing for three days. The foreman calms them with a lie and quietly asks Geralt to talk to him about it, which begins Big Feet to Fill. If the nest was left intact, two bandit brothers later camp at the Fort Ussar ruins with a recipe for scrambled slyzard eggs.
