Highwayman’s Cache

Overview

Highwayman’s Cache is an unmarked secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, found a little east of Boatmakers’ Hut in the Mire area of Velen. A trail there leads to a bridge over to the Bandits’ Camp island.

The toll

Three bandits guard the bridge. Instead of attacking, they tell Geralt to pay for safe passage. He can tell them to come and take it, which starts a fight with all three, or show them his medallion. One of them recognizes it as a witcher’s, and they decide to leave without a fight.

The cache

Either way, use Witcher Senses at their campfire. Footprints lead to a chest half hidden in the weeds under the bridge. It contains some coin and two random crafting diagrams.

Walkthrough

  1. Follow the trail east of Boatmakers’ Hut to the bridge.
  2. Fight the three bandits, or show them your medallion to scare them off.
  3. Use Witcher Senses at the campfire and follow the footprints.
  4. Open the chest under the bridge.
