Overview
Novigrad, Closed City is a two-part secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set around Novigrad. It becomes available after A Matter of Life and Death, as the witch hunters step up their crackdown on mages. Newer versions of the game list the two parts separately as Novigrad, Closed City and Novigrad, Closed City II.
It belongs to a group of events showing the crackdown, such as guards demanding passes at the city gates. At one gate, a guard lets Geralt through and whispers greetings from Sigi Reuven, that is Dijkstra.
Part I: three keys
Three people each hold a key to the same safe, and Geralt can meet them in any order.
- Lussi calls for help on St. Gregory’s Bridge, claiming her house is haunted. It is a trap: two witch hunters are waiting. Afterward she makes amends with a key.
- Wallter is banging on a door in the alley behind Crippled Kate’s with witch hunters closing in. Save him and he hands over his key, or take it from his body.
- Fritz lives in the second house east of Triss’ hideout, up a narrow stair between two buildings. He is already dead. Lighting the torch by the stairs on the upper floor opens a secret compartment with a letter, his key and the locked safe.
The warrants carried by the witch hunters explain where the other keys are. With all three, Geralt opens the safe and claims the treasure.
Part II: the bandits
Northwest of The Golden Sturgeon, near the Silverton fish market, three bandits ask Geralt to track a “companion” who came out of the sewers. Stay inside the marked area once you accept. The trail of boot prints, sewer slime and blood leads to a wounded witch hunter who burned the bandits’ fisstech.
Geralt can hand him over, for a payment in orens, or kill the bandits. If he saves the witch hunter, he can take him to Vilmerius Hospital or leave him to die as a “martyr for the Eternal Fire”.
