Francis Bedlam, known as the King of Beggars, is one of the Big Four who rule Novigrad‘s underworld, alongside Whoreson Junior, Sigi Reuven and Cleaver. His court sits in the Putrid Grove, a squalid corner of the city that has become an unlikely refuge for mages and others fleeing the witch hunters.
In The Witcher 3
Geralt’s search for Ciri leads him to Bedlam’s court during Pyres of Novigrad and Get Junior. The King of Beggars trades in information like any crime lord, and he keeps a spy in rival territory. In Honor Among Thieves, Geralt finds that spy, the halfling Rico Meiersdorf, beaten up in Junior’s casino. If he lets Rico go, Bedlam later rewards the witcher with a set of Freya’s Warriors’ armor and the sword Eirlithrad.
