Éibhear Hattori is an elven master swordsmith living in the Glory Lane district of Novigrad. His blades made his name known far and wide, until a rival smith, Ernst van Hoorn, set out to corner the market by any means he could, spreading lies and even accusing Hattori of working with the havekar smugglers. With the gang boss Cleaver backing van Hoorn, Hattori’s appeal to the city fell on deaf ears. Faced with giving up his trade or his life, he turned the front of his house into a little dumpling shop.
In The Witcher 3
When Geralt arrives, Hattori is still selling dumplings, but he misses the forge badly. In Of Swords and Dumplings, he tries to get supplies through the King of Beggars, Francis Bedlam, which puts a target on his back and forces him to hire a bodyguard. With Geralt’s help, he finally breaks van Hoorn’s monopoly and returns to his forge.
From then on, Hattori works as a blacksmith for Geralt, selling weapons, crossbows and bolts, crafting components and a few treasure maps for witcher gear.
