Overview
From a Land Far, Far Away is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that starts in the Skellige Isles and ends near Ursten, a small village south of Novigrad.
The first wreck
On Hemdall’s Finger, a small island east of Redgill, Geralt finds a body, a journal and a wrecked ship marked with a zebra crest. It belongs to neither the Northern Realms nor Nilfgaard. A chest under a sunken mast on the south side of the island holds a letter in a foreign language, sealed with impermeable wax, and the captain’s log. The log points to Ursten.
The second wreck
A warrior in Ursten can be talked to, which changes some later dialogue. On the coast southeast of Widows’ Grotto lies a second ship with the same crest. Footprints lead to a woman at a watchtower, who flees and hides with a child at the grotto’s entrance. She does not speak Geralt’s language. If you have not met the warrior yet, you can hand her the captain’s log and then the letter.
The choice
The warrior arrives, and the woman shields the boy. He speaks to her in their language, then tells Geralt she is a criminal who took the child and must be stopped so he can take the boy home. Geralt can side with him, and the warrior kills her. Or he can side with the woman and fight the warrior. She then offers him a stone medallion, which he can accept or refuse, before leaving with the boy.
