The Whispering Hillock is a lonely mound in the marshes of Velen, marked by a huge ancient oak whose roots twist over the entrance to a cave beneath. It is a place the locals keep clear of, and the reason is a restless spirit that dwells below.

In the game, the hillock is the setting of the main quest The Whispering Hillock, part of the chain that leads Geralt to the Crones of Crookback Bog. What Geralt does beneath the oak decides the fate of the nearby village of Downwarren, and it is one of the first big choices players make in Velen.
