Overview

A Dog’s Life is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, found on the hilly road just northwest of Drudge in the Mire area of Velen.

Saving the dog

Geralt comes across a lone dog fighting off a pack of wolves. Move quickly: if the dog dies, the quest is gone. The wolves are level 9, which can be tough if you arrive early, but the dog bites hard. You mostly need to keep the pack from ganging up on it.

Following the key

After the fight, Geralt finds a key on the dog’s collar. The dog runs off, clearly wanting to be followed. Stay close, or the quest fails (you can still use the key on the chest, but you lose the XP).

The dog leads Geralt into Drudge, where bandits attack. Once they are dead, open the house next to the signpost. Witcher Senses reveal loose floorboards, and underneath is a chest with some coin, loot and notes. Reading the notes ends the quest. When Geralt steps outside, the dog is gone.

Tip

One of the bandits always carries a Bremervoord blade.
