Overview
For the Advancement of Learning is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the end of Keira Metz‘s questline in Velen. It follows A Favor for a Friend and takes place at the tower on Fyke Isle. It fails if not completed before The Isle of Mists.
Keira’s plan
At the tower, Keira walks out with the notes of the mage Alexander, his research on the Catriona plague. She plans to hand them to King Radovid in exchange for a pardon for her ties to the Lodge of Sorceresses. Geralt knows how Radovid treats sorceresses, and the conversation can end three ways.
The three outcomes
- Send her to Kaer Morhen. Ask about the notes, warn her that Radovid never forgets and that her plan is suicide, then suggest Kaer Morhen. This is the only moment the option appears. She agrees, and Geralt can ask for the notes without a fight.
- Let her go to Radovid. Leave the conversation without mentioning Kaer Morhen, demanding the notes, or telling her you cannot allow it.
- Kill her. Demanding the notes or refusing to let her leave starts a fight she will not survive. Geralt then burns Alexander’s notes.
Consequences
If Keira goes to Kaer Morhen, she fights in The Battle of Kaer Morhen. If she does not, Brothers in Arms: Velen fails. Letting her go to Radovid, or skipping this quest, later unlocks A Final Kindness.
