Love’s Cruel Snares

Overview

Love’s Cruel Snares is a small secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set in the Spitfire Bluff area of Velen. It only appears after Geralt clears both the abandoned boatyard between the Refugees’ Camp and Condyle and the pirate base on the peninsula to its west.

What happens

Once the abandoned site north of Condyle is free of pirates, a woman appears nearby, crying. Her fiancé went out to check his snares and never returned. Do not wander far after accepting, or the quest fails.

Geralt follows the tracks to a trap where a pack of wild dogs is gathered around a body. After killing the dogs, he confirms it is the missing man and goes back to break the news.

The reward

The grieving woman offers Geralt payment. He can take it, or refuse and earn more XP instead. Either way, she leaves to be with her fiancé’s body.

Walkthrough

  1. Clear the pirates from the boatyard north of Condyle and the pirate base to the west.
  2. Talk to the crying woman who appears nearby.
  3. Follow the tracks and kill the wild dogs by the trap.
  4. Examine the body.
  5. Return to the woman and accept or refuse her reward.
