Adrien de Rouleau, better known as Le Papillon, is a talented composer and bard from Toussaint and a great favorite at the court of Beauclair. He is vain, theatrical and always on the lookout for his next ballad.
In Blood and Wine
Anna Henrietta hires him as herald of the knights’ tournament. In The Beast of Toussaint, he narrates the fight against the shaelmaar in rhyme, quickly switching his attention to Geralt when the witcher steps in. If Geralt spares the beast, Le Papillon proclaims him “Geralt the Merciful”. He goes on to announce the race, the melee and the final duel in The Warble of a Smitten Knight.
After the tournament, he wants a ballad about the witcher himself. In Of Sheers and a Witcher I Sing, he sends Geralt after the missing barber Jean-Louis Ludovic and tags along, composing as they go. He performs the finished ballad, though he cannot actually afford to pay for the job.
