Iris von Everec was a painter from a noble family and the wife of Olgierd von Everec. Her family approved of Olgierd until the von Everecs went bankrupt, then promised her instead to Sirvat, a visiting Ofieri prince. In his rage, Olgierd brought a curse down on the prince, turning him into a giant toad.
After Olgierd made his pact with Gaunter O’Dimm, his fortune returned and he married Iris. But the pact slowly drained him of feeling. The marriage soured, Olgierd killed Iris’ father in a fit of temper, and in the end he left her with a letter and a violet rose. Iris stayed alone in the estate until the rose crumbled, and died soon after.
In Hearts of Stone, Geralt meets her ghost during Scenes From a Marriage and enters the Painted World of her memories in search of the rose. If he takes the rose, Iris’ ghost is gone for good. If he refuses, he leaves with a painting of the rose instead, and Iris remains in her house.
