Overview
Hazardous Goods is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set on the main road northwest of Lurtch in the Descent area of Velen. It is short but grim. Do the first part before starting Ghosts of the Past, or it is locked until that quest is done. The first part fails if you ride too far away from the scene.
The overturned cart
Geralt finds a cart full of plague victims, a few ghouls, and a man pinned under the load. After the ghouls are dead, the man, Gert Borel, explains that his axle broke, his horse panicked at the ghouls’ howls and the cart tipped over on him. He makes a living hauling away plague dead and swears he never falls ill.
Geralt can leave, or persuade him that the cart and bodies must be burned. If he agrees, set the cart alight with Igni before you leave. Geralt also tells Gert to burn his clothes and scrub himself, advice Gert shrugs off.
Weeks later
After some time has passed, Gert can be found again between Reardon Manor and Benek, among several nekker nests. He has caught the plague after all and begs Geralt to end his suffering. Geralt can grant his wish or refuse. Neither choice has lasting consequences.
