Overview
Free Spirit is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that starts on Snidhall Isle, north of the Ancient Crypt in the Skellige Isles, and sends Geralt shopping across Novigrad and Velen.
Ivar and Irma
On the island’s southern shore two Skelligers are about to fight. Step in quickly, or the quest giver may die. Only the man in the blue tunic, Ivar, matters. After the angry warrior is dead, Ivar explains he wants to marry the warrior’s sister Irma, a priestess of Freya whose faith forbids it. He is sure there is a loophole somewhere, and asks Geralt to bring him books on the subject.
The five books

- The Curious Cases of Virtuous Vegga: the merchant in the Gildorf district shop, Novigrad.
- Change your life! A Handbook: the loan shark in The Bits, Novigrad.
- Tristianna and Isador: the merchant in Lindenvale.
- Religion and Life: the merchant at Crow’s Perch, or since patch 4.0 at Devil’s Pit.
Hand them over one at a time, since giving all five at once can bug the quest. Once he has read them all, Ivar decides he cannot learn any more on his island. Later he turns up in Silverton in Novigrad, still hoping for Irma, and looking for work on a ship.
