The Tower Outta Nowheres

A mage's tower has appeared out of nowhere on An Skellig, bringing endless rain. Inside, a trapped mage needs Geralt to beat the tower's defenses.

Overview

The Tower Outta Nowheres is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set on An Skellig in the Skellige Isles, at a tower north-northeast of the Bay of Winds. It must be completed before The Path of Warriors.

Endless rain

In Urialla Harbor it will not stop raining. The locals blame a tower that appeared out of nowhere. Several of their men, and a druid, went in to investigate and never came back.

Sigo Buntz and the DRM

A portal at the bottom of the tower’s stairs leads to a sealed chamber and a golem. After Geralt destroys it, a mage behind a barrier introduces himself as Sigo Buntz. The tower belonged to a mage who has since died, and it is protected by a Defensive Regulatory Magicon, or DRM, which only its late owner could use. Before Sigo could switch it off, it sealed the rooms, summoned the golem and teleported the whole tower from Kovir to Skellige. The rain is a side effect. To shut down the DRM, Sigo needs Gottfried’s Omni-opening Grimoire.

The grimoire

In the flooded area, the room on the left triggers waves of summoned monsters: three alghouls, a gargoyle, an ulfhedinn and finally a harmless cow. The library key lies on the table. In the library, the right book sets off the DRM again and the room fills with gas, so loot first and grab the grimoire last.

The last room

While Sigo works to disable the DRM, Geralt fights an earth elemental as electric shocks run through the floor. Position the elemental over them to hurt it too. Loot everything before talking to Sigo. He rewards Geralt with the sword Moonblade, sends the tower back to Kovir, and teleports Geralt back to Urialla Harbor, straight into the sea.
