Velen and Novigrad make up the biggest region in The Witcher 3: war-torn swamps and burned villages in the south, the free city of Novigrad and the university town of Oxenfurt in the north. This interactive Velen and Novigrad map gathers 472 markers in one place, including signposts, Places of Power, witcher gear diagrams, guarded and hidden treasure, monster nests, bandit camps, merchants, inns and every gwent player. Click a marker for details and links, switch categories on and off, or search for a place by name.

An illustrated fan map, not a copy of the in-game map: coastlines, rivers, forests and roads are drawn by us and only approximate, but every marker sits where it does in the game. About the Velen and Novigrad map

Geralt follows Ciri’s trail through this region for a large part of the main story, from Crow’s Perch and the Bloody Baron questline to the Ladies of the Wood in Crookback Bog and the crowded streets of Novigrad. Most of the game’s side content lives here too, which is exactly why a map you can filter comes in handy.

In the game Velen and Novigrad share one world map, and so do we. Novigrad sits on the north bank of the Pontar, while Velen is the poor, war-scarred land to the south.

Tips for Velen and Novigrad

Cards first? Switch everything off except Gwent players and Merchants, and you have a quick route for building your deck. The big tournament takes place at the Passiflora in Novigrad during High Stakes.

Many witcher gear markers come with a hint in the popup, such as a breakable wall or a sunken ship, so read them before you set off.

Clearing bandit camps and abandoned sites brings people and merchants back, and several traders on the map only show up after you have done so.

Frequently asked questions

Is Novigrad part of Velen?

No. Novigrad is a free city north of the Pontar, while Velen is the borderland south of the river. The game puts them on one map, so this page covers both, plus Oxenfurt.

How many Places of Power are in Velen and Novigrad?

This map shows eight. Switch on the Places of Power filter to see them all at once.
