Kaer Morhen is the old keep of the Wolf School, hidden in the Blue Mountains of Kaedwen, and the closest thing Geralt has to a home. This interactive Kaer Morhen map covers the whole valley around the fortress: the keep itself, the Bastion, the Iron Mine, the Lakeside Hut and the Ruined Watchtower, plus caves, hidden and guarded treasure, crafting spots and the valley’s Place of Power. Click a marker for details and links, switch categories on and off, or search for a place by name.

An illustrated fan map, not a copy of the in-game map: the valley’s shapes, rivers and trails are drawn by hand and only approximate, but every marker sits where it does in the game (patch 4.0). About the Kaer Morhen map

The Witcher 3 opens with a dream of Kaer Morhen, but you only get to explore the valley properly later in the main story, when Geralt brings Ciri back to the keep and the witchers prepare for the Battle of Kaer Morhen. Before the fight there is time to roam the valley, and you can fast travel back afterwards to pick up anything you missed.

It is a small region compared with Velen and Novigrad, but it is packed with Wolf School history: the ruined Bastion where boys trained, the mine that fed the school’s forges and the watchtower where witcher gear was once designed.

What you will find on the map

  • 5 places: the keep, the Bastion, the Iron Mine, the Lakeside Hut and the Ruined Watchtower
  • 1 Place of Power (Igni) up in the north of the valley
  • 10 cave entrances in the mountains around the valley
  • 9 treasure spots, two of them guarded by a wyvern and a leshen
  • An armorer’s table and grindstones inside the keep

Tips for Kaer Morhen

The guarded treasures are no walk in the park. One is watched by a level 14 wyvern, the other by a level 20 leshen, so bring the right oils.

The Iron Mine southwest of the keep is worth a detour for Wolf School gear, and the Bastion ties in with the side quest The Bastion.
