Trail of Echoes

Overview

Trail of Echoes is an unmarked secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set in a cave at the end of the road northwest of Kaer Morhen, north of the Bastion. It is the same cave Geralt searches during the Wolf School gear scavenger hunt.

What happens

Geralt recognizes the place: before Kaer Morhen was built, the cave was used for the Trial of the Grasses, the alchemical ordeal that turns boys into witchers. Now it is infested with monsters.

Kill the nekker warriors and the devourer, then examine the old equipment scattered around. The Trial of the Grasses registry lists witcher candidates from long ago who underwent the Trial. Once Geralt has seen enough, the quest ends.

Walkthrough

  1. Follow the road northwest of Kaer Morhen to the cave at its end.
  2. Kill the nekker warriors and the devourer.
  3. Examine the equipment and read the Trial of the Grasses registry.
