Overview
Open Sesame: The Safecracker is a main quest in Hearts of Stone and one of three preparations for the heist in Open Sesame!. There are two candidates, and whoever Geralt hires changes the enemies he faces during the heist and which side they take at the end.
Quinto
Quinto is being held in a cage by the bounty hunter Hans of Cidaris, not far from the Herbalist’s Hut. You may know Hans from Contract: The Creature from Oxenfurt Forest. Talk to Quinto in his cage. Hans wants money to let him go, and more if you squeezed him at the end of his contract. You can haggle, win Quinto’s freedom at gwent, or pick a fight with Hans. Losing doubles the price. Quinto can join at once or wait near the Oxenfurt gate while you look at the other option.
Casimir Bassi
In Alness, the dwarf Casimir Bassi is sitting on his roof among barrels of explosives with a lit torch. His wife has left him and taken their children, and he has given up. Some dialogue choices lead to tragedy. Mocking him or trying to recruit him leads to a fistfight, and Axii calms him down. Whether Geralt wins or loses the fight, Casimir agrees to join, but only if Geralt hires him on the spot.
The difference
Quinto works quietly, and smart negotiation can keep the guards out, but the crew then falls into a hidden pit. Casimir’s explosion brings the guards in for a fight, but it also wrecks the floor trap. The two also end up on opposite sides in the final confrontation between the Borsodi brothers.
