Graden is a witch hunter in the service of King Radovid, stationed with his men in Oxenfurt. Unlike many of his fellow fanatics, he thinks before he acts and does not let his emotions rule him. He was among the first witch hunters to actually read the books on black magic before burning them, reasoning that it is better to know your enemy.
In The Witcher 3
Graden takes Tamara Strenger under his protection and trains her for the dangers of Crookback Bog, where her mother is held. Geralt meets him in Family Matters, and again in Return to Crookback Bog, when Graden leads Tamara and his men into the swamp. He treats the witcher without prejudice and thanks him after they fight side by side. Whatever they find in the bog, it is Graden who urges Tamara to seek comfort in the Eternal Fire before the group returns to Oxenfurt.
