Overview
A Greedy God is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set in ruins south of Wastrel Manor in the Mire area of Velen. You need the Eye of Nehaleni from the main story to finish it.
The Allgod
Two peasants, Dagmar and Preben, are bringing offerings to their deity, the Allgod. Long ago one of their ancestors saw a bush burst into flames, and a voice demanded worship and gifts. Now the war has made the offerings poor, and the Allgod has cursed them for it. Geralt agrees to speak on their behalf.
The “god” threatens avalanches on the village if the food does not improve, which is odd in flat country, and his voice clearly comes from below ground.
The truth underground
Witcher Senses reveal a crack in the wall and a bottle smelling of vinegar. The trail leads to rubble that is really an illusion. The Eye of Nehaleni dispels it and opens a hidden cellar. Inside is the Allgod: a fat sylvan who has been living off the villagers’ gifts.
Choices
- Kill him. The peasants are upset even when told he was just a common monster, and leave for Claywich.
- Bargain. Persuade him to accept modest offerings. The peasants are grateful and pay Geralt.
- Do not bargain. The peasants resign themselves to emptying their stores for him.
If the sylvan lives, Geralt can also tell the peasants about the cellar. If he does, the cellar is later buried in rubble. If he keeps quiet, a group of worshippers can later be found there, while the Allgod complains that nothing tastes nice anymore.
