Bitter Harvest is a secondary quest on an old battlefield south-southeast of the Border Post in Velen. The armies of Nilfgaard and Redania have fought many bloody, pointless battles in No Man’s Land, often retreating without burying their dead. On one such field, Geralt meets a group of looters picking through the corpses.
In another place, Geralt might have just gritted his teeth and moved on. But in Velen there is nothing else to eat and nothing else to sell, and these people are simply trying to survive. The battlefield is also crawling with ghouls and rotfiends feeding on the dead, and the peasants, including a man named Albin, need help to get out alive.
Whether Albin survives depends on how quickly and carefully Geralt deals with the necrophages. It is a grim little quest that shows the war from the bottom up.
