Ciri’s Story: Fleeing the Bog is a short Ciri flashback in The Witcher 3, told as part of Ladies of the Wood. When Ciri first arrived in Velen, she landed in the very heart of Crookback Bog. Exhausted and looking for shelter, she fell into the hands of the three sisters the peasants call the Ladies of the Wood, and quickly realised how badly the name suits them.
She gets away by a hair’s breadth, but the swamp is dangerous even without the Crones, and something far worse is on her trail: Imlerith, the Wild Hunt general the Crones summoned to take her to his king. The player guides Ciri through the marsh, past drowners and hounds of the Wild Hunt, until she gives her pursuer the slip. It is one of the shortest of Ciri’s quests, and it is possible to simply run all the way through, but it sets up a meeting between the two that Geralt will have to finish later.
