Blood on the Battlefield is the main quest that follows The Battle of Kaer Morhen, and one of the most important in The Witcher 3 for how the story ends. Ciri’s outburst of power at the end of the battle frightened everyone, Ciri most of all. While the sorceresses leave for Novigrad to rebuild the Lodge, Geralt, Ciri and Avallac’h stay at Kaer Morhen so the Sage can teach her to keep her gift under control.
Helping Ciri
The training does not go well. Ciri swings between rage and resignation, and Geralt has to decide how to help. He can suggest a few drinks and an honest talk, or distract her with a good old snowball fight. These small, personal choices matter more than they seem, because together with a few others later on they decide which ending the game will have.
Meeting the Emperor
The quest then moves to Vizima, where Ciri meets her father, Emperor Emhyr var Emreis, for the first time in years. Geralt can go in with her or let her face him alone, and Emhyr offers Geralt payment for bringing his daughter back, which he can accept or refuse. The way Geralt handles this visit is another piece of the puzzle that shapes Ciri’s future.
