Faithful Friend is a small secondary quest that takes Geralt back to White Orchard after the prologue. Last time, he hunted a griffin there. This time the job is far gentler: catching a runaway horse near Woesong Bridge.
The horse belongs to a soldier who has just returned from the war, and it turns out it did not run away out of fear. It ran off to find its beloved master. While Geralt deals with the horse, he gets to talking with the soldier, who shares some bitter words about the last stages of the war and what it did to men like him.
It is a short, quiet quest, but it gives a human face to the aftermath of the war, and it is a nice excuse to revisit the place where Geralt’s story began.
