Baltimore
Master Baltimore is a renowned runesmith whose reputation is still alive in Vergen during the events of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The dwarves of the town hold him in great esteem, and his work is regarded as the finest example of the demanding craft of forging runes.
Runesmithing takes decades of practice to master. Runes worked into weapons and tools are believed to give them unusual properties.
Geralt never meets Baltimore in person, since the runesmith vanished several years before the story takes place. What Geralt later learns suggests that Baltimore was either deeply paranoid or had real reason to fear for his life.
