Voytek is a fisherman who lives in a small hut on the Pontar, east of Crow’s Perch, with his wife and three sons. When one of his boys fell gravely ill and the family could not afford help, Tamara Strenger brought food and medicine and saved the child. Voytek knew the Baron beat his wife, but was afraid to get involved, until his own wife reminded him that those who stand by and do nothing help evil carry on.

On the night Tamara and Anna fled, Voytek waited for them with horses at the old smokehouse. On the way to his hut a fiend burst out of the dark and carried Anna off. Voytek got Tamara to safety and sent her to his brother in Oxenfurt.
In Family Matters, Geralt comes asking questions. Voytek insists nobody has been by, until one of his sons gives the game away, and then he tells the witcher the whole story and where to find Tamara.
