Geralt of Rivia is a neutral Close Combat hero with 15 strength, tied with Ciri as the strongest unit in the game. Heroes ignore special cards, weather and abilities, and since patch 4.0 Geralt also calls the Roach card into play, according to The Witcher wiki and GameFAQs users.
You win him from Thaler at the Seven Cats Inn outside Novigrad. If you did A Deadly Plot before playing Roche, the match is part of Gwent: Old Pals. Otherwise it’s the separate quest Gwent: Playing Thaler.
If Thaler isn’t available, the card can be looted at the Seven Cats Inn. Read more about Geralt in our character guide.
