Overview
The Man from Cintra is a main quest in Blood and Wine, following Wine is Sacred. Geralt and Anna Henrietta go undercover at a Mandragora party, a gathering of artists held at the estate of Orianna, to find the mysterious Cintrian.
Dressing up
Geralt can pick up formal clothes at the Tailor’s Workshop in Beauclair and should leave his swords behind for some extra dialogue from the duchess. There is no need to buy a mask, since she brings the right one. At night, bounty hunters after the price on Geralt’s head may attack on the way to Mountebank Alley, where he meets the duchess.
The party
Inside, there is plenty to do: throwing paint at a canvas, the mimes, absinthe, lanterns and an illusionist. A painter reveals that a woman named Cecilia went off with the Cintrian toward the refreshments. A heart-shaped box there carries a scent that Witcher Senses can follow around the courtyard to a bodyguard, who recognizes the duchess and lets them upstairs.
The investigation
In Cecilia’s room, there is a body and a bloody handprint. Across the balconies and up a ladder, the next room is full of clues: a mirror, blood, a jewelry box, a broken necklace with a valuable jewel beside it, a slashed painting, a knife, a spilled inkwell and blood on the window ledge. Once Geralt has examined everything, a long conversation follows, and Regis and Dettlaff appear. After a timed choice and a private talk with Regis, the quest ends.
Afterwards, the Cintrian’s body can be found among the lower cliffs east of Orianna’s estate, below the window he went through. The story continues in Capture the Castle.
