Where the Cat and Wolf Play…

Honorton has been massacred, and the only survivor, a little girl, holds a Cat School medallion. Geralt tracks down the witcher who did it.

Overview

Where the Cat and Wolf Play… is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, released as free DLC. It follows Contract: The Beast of Honorton and is set in Honorton and Oreton in the Mire area of Velen. Do not leave the area once it starts, or it fails.

A massacred village

After the alghouls of Honorton are dead, Geralt investigates what happened. One hut holds a leshen’s head, a sign that someone already took the contract. In the barn, a blood trail shows the wounded man was no ordinary peasant. Every villager is dead.

By the hut with the dead dog outside, a little girl bolts. Her doll and footprints lead through one window and out the other, to where she hides behind a large tree. Give her the doll or use Axii, and Millie tells the story: a witcher killed everyone but spared her. She hands over the medallion she found in the barn. It belongs to the School of the Cat.

Gaetan

A bloody handprint and footprints lead past a pack of wolves to the wounded witcher, Gaetan. If Geralt listens, Gaetan explains that the ealdorman offered him a pittance for the leshen, and when he demanded the agreed fee, the villagers tricked him and nearly killed him.

  • Spare him, and he tells Geralt where his stash is, which starts Take What You Want. Help Millie first, since that quest’s location is far away.
  • Kill him. He uses Signs and asks to drink a Swallow first to make it fair, but throws a bomb to blind Geralt instead. His body carries the Cat School sword Teigr.

Millie

Geralt takes Millie to her aunt in Oreton, who hints the witcher might be better placed to raise her but takes her in anyway. Giving the aunt some coin makes her kinder. A few days later Millie thanks Geralt in Oreton with a small gift.
