Reinald
Reinald was a witcher of the School of the Wolf who lived some three centuries before Geralt. He went down into the mines at Devil’s Pit in Velen, where the Church of the Eternal Fire had once shut away victims of the scarlet fog. There the red miasmal, a plague spirit, took hold of him, and it never let go.
In The Witcher 3
Reinald appears in In the Eternal Fire’s Shadow, a quest added with the next-gen update. A young deacon of the Eternal Fire asks Geralt to clear the old mine. Inside, Geralt finds Reinald’s letters and old Wolf School marks on the walls. To free him, Geralt has to beat Reinald’s possessed body and then the miasmal itself.
Once released, Reinald’s spirit hands over his armor and sword diagrams, the Forgotten Wolf School gear (see Mastercrafted Forgotten Wolven Armor). Three hundred years have left him bitter and hungry for revenge on the Church, and how his story ends depends on whether Geralt can get him to let the past go.
