Worth Its Weight in Gold

Worth Its Weight in Gold is a secondary quest in Act II of The Witcher that links the Swamp Forest with Vizima’s Temple Quarter. Yaevinn, the Scoia’tael commander, approaches Geralt at the Druids’ Grove and asks him to carry a letter to his friend Golan Vivaldi, a dwarven banker in the city, and to bring back the reply.

It is a simple courier job with a political edge. A letter that ties a respectable banker to the Squirrels is exactly the kind of thing Captain Vincent Meis would love to read, so Geralt can either play postman for the elves or hand it over to the city guard instead. Either way he ends up reporting back to Yaevinn at the rebel camp in the swamp, who reacts much the same; what changes is the XP and which side remembers the favour.

Walkthrough

  1. Talk to Yaevinn at the Druids’ Grove in the Swamp Forest and take his letter.
  2. Travel to the Temple Quarter and give the letter to Golan Vivaldi at his house (or take it to Vincent Meis instead).
  3. If you went to Vivaldi, leave his house and come back in to receive his reply.
  4. Return to the Swamp Forest and find Yaevinn at the rebel camp to finish the quest.

Quest Consequences & Choices

  • Deliver to Vivaldi: wins favour with the Scoia’tael and pays the most XP.
  • Hand it to Vincent Meis: he pays you 25 orens and you win favour with the Order, but the quest gives less XP overall.
