Adalbert
Adalbert is a Nilfgaardian mage in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and one of the members of a scholarly expedition into the caverns beneath Loc Muinne. He travels with the sorceress Cynthia, and of the two he is by far the less pleasant company.
In The Witcher 2
Geralt meets him in Chapter III during The Secrets of Loc Muinne, a quest added in the Enhanced Edition. The group makes its way through the sewers toward the hidden laboratory of the long-dead sorcerer Dearhenna, past riddling guardian eyes, gargoyles and a golem.
Geralt’s journal describes Adalbert as arrogant and unhelpful. Geralt disliked him from the start, and the feeling was mutual. When the laboratory gives up its prize, the artifact known as the megascope, Geralt can let the two mages leave with it or refuse. If the argument over the loot turns into a fight, Geralt kills Adalbert, and the journal makes no secret of the fact that he did so gladly.
