Morvran Voorhis is a true Nilfgaardian, born in the heart of the empire, a scion of an ancient noble family and a relative of Emhyr var Emreis on both sides. He commands the armored Alba Division, one of the empire’s elite units, and is known for preferring spies and saboteurs to open battle. He likes to say he could win a war without a single sword.
In the books
In the saga, a group of noble conspirators plans to overthrow Emhyr and put the young Morvran on the throne as their puppet. The plot is betrayed before it gets anywhere. Morvran later becomes a leading general, and in the distant future he rules Nilfgaard as emperor himself.
In The Witcher 3
Geralt first meets Voorhis during Imperial Audience, when the general is given the job of asking the witcher “a few routine questions”. They meet again in Novigrad, where Voorhis uses the city’s neutrality to enjoy the company of Baroness Louisa la Valette. Geralt can also seek him out in Brothers in Arms: Nilfgaard when gathering allies for Kaer Morhen.
